Deck the halls...or at least the sun room!
'Tis the season to be jolly -- and we are! I can't believe it is Christmas-time already. Bill and I bought our first Christmas tree for our new home tonight and could not resist setting it up.
Our decorating efforts were cut short when we realized that we only had one string of lights, colored icicle lights (bought for the outside, but were not long enough, so the inside lights are outside, and these were all we had...so we thought.
The old lady who lived in the house, and left all her stuff had tons and tons of boxes full of decorations (the tacky old lady kind...but hey we'll take it) Hopefully she'll have some lights!
Score!! Boxes and boxes and strings and strings of 50-year-old-if one-goes-out-they-all-go-out short strings of lights. Our excitement was a bit premature. Out of the twelve strands of lights we found three that actually lit up. I plugged one set in and the plug fell apart as I plugged it into the socket.
So, the tree lights leave a bit to be desired at the moment, but we'll fix that. Possibly her "American Made" tarnished "SHINY BRITE" ornaments are worth something on ebay...check out.
Uncle Sam shaking hands with Santa - each bulb is stamped "made in the u.s.a" on top.
